Bulk convert ING statements to CSV

Orange Everyday and Savings Maximiser statements come one period at a time. A year of them can still be a single file.

A year of ING statements in two batches

On an Orange Everyday statement, a lot of the money moving through is PayID or Osko transfers, and for those the description field usually is the record. There's no invoice number or merchant category to fall back on, just whatever text the sender's bank passed through. Truncate that at a column boundary, which is what a lot of generic converters do, and the transaction becomes an amount with no way to say what it was.

That's the reason the description column gets kept intact here rather than clipped to a fixed width, and it's the difference between a merged file you can actually reconcile against and one that's just a list of numbers.

The batching itself works the same as it does for every bank on this site. ING only issues statements one period at a time with no export for the underlying data, so a year on an Orange Everyday is twelve PDFs with nothing joining them together. Ten statements go into a batch at once, and what comes back is one merged CSV with every transaction sorted by date, a full year clearing in two runs.

Savings Maximiser statements go through the same batch process, bonus interest entries and all, so an everyday account and a savings account can be uploaded together and come out the other side in one chronological file, with a Source File column keeping each row traceable to the statement it came from.

Frequently asked questions

Which ING accounts are supported?

Orange Everyday, Savings Maximiser, and ING's other savings and transaction account statement formats.

How do I download several statements from ING?

In ING's online banking or app, open the account, go to Statements, and download each period as a PDF. They're issued individually, which is the input batch mode is built for.

Are PayID and Osko payments parsed correctly?

Yes. Fast payment transactions come through with their full description text preserved rather than truncated, which matters when the description is the only thing identifying the payer.

Can I mix ING statements with other banks in one batch?

Yes. Each file has its own bank setting, so ING statements can convert alongside Commonwealth Bank, Westpac, ANZ, NAB and the other supported banks in one run.

How many credits will a year of statements use?

Credits are counted per page. A typical ING monthly statement is two to four pages, so a year of one account usually falls between 25 and 50 pages.
