Get bank statement data into Excel without rebuilding it by hand

Excel is great for working with bank data. Getting the data into Excel is the annoying part. These guides cover PDF imports, cleanup, categories, totals, monthly files and accountant handovers.

Start with the simplest honest method

If your bank offers CSV for the period, download it. If the PDF contains a clean table, try Excel's Power Query PDF connector. If the layout breaks descriptions, dates or amount direction, use the parser built for that bank.
